2024 Year in review! Frost Amphitheater 2024 highlights!
Frost Amphitheater has been the go-to destination for live entertainment ever since it opened its doors in 1937. This prominent amphitheater holds up to 8,000 people and sits within the world class setting of Stanford University. Capacity is comfortably spread across multiple sections, and includes accessible ADA-compliant seating that’s right next to vendors and amenities. Every year, the Frost Amphitheater welcomes thousands and thousands of people to celebrate the biggest tours of the season. The venue hasn’t only won over the hearts of local Californians, but is regarded as the go to destination for worldwide audiences. From more than a dozen concerts by The Grateful Dead to the annual Frost Music and Arts Festival, the Frost Amphitheater has a rich history of hosting world class concerts, top notch festivals, and a forever growing roster of world class talent.
2024 has arguably been the biggest year at the Frost Amphitheater. The spring season opened with the King of Anime Remixes. On April 27, Stanford Live and Goldenvoice proudly presented Dabin: Stay in Bloom. And it was epic. For the first time ever, audiences were treated to two unique sets, special guests, and exclusive merch. The EDM-focused instrumentalist and music producer blew up the stage with his JUNO Award-winning hits. May was just as lit, with the return of the Frost Music and Arts Festival. The highly anticipated student-led project saw the highly acclaimed rapper Blxst, neo-soul icon UMI, and indie pop rising star Alemeda, absolutely tear up the stage. It was a spectacle like no other that merged the best in hip-hop, R&B, and pop.
None other than Fred Again hit the stage in June for three smash hit concerts. From 4 – 6 June, the British electronic heavyweight arrived at the Frost Amphitheater for a mini Stanford residency, and attendees are still raving about the atmosphere today! The venue kept the part going with a two-night concert from Dom Dolla. And the Grammy-nominated tech sensation was nothing short of iconic. Blasting out hit after hit like “Take It,” “Pump the Breaks,” and his most recent track, “San Frandisco,” the Aussie music producer and DJ stunned audiences with off the chart remixes and epic drops!
The summer season was sizzling! The Frost Amphitheater welcomed the hottest acts around, including Robert Plant & Alison Krauss; Lauren Daigle; John Fogerty; George Thorogood and The Destroyers & Hearty Har; and Remi Wolf. On August 22, Rock god Robert Plant and bluegrass country gem Alison Krauss proved that opposites attract. With Robert Plant’s insane talent that saw him front the legendary Led Zeppelin band, and Alison Krauss’ mastery that met international stardom as the lead in the string band Union Station, this was a night curated by the gods! Part rock, part country, this co-headlining concert was truly legendary. On August 29, Lauren Daigle took a kaleidoscope of colors and sounds to the Frost Amphitheater. This superstar pop vocalist, 2x Grammy Award winner, and 12x Dove Award winner stunned audiences with hits like “You Say,” and “Rescue” from her self-titled album. John Fogerty, George Thorogood, and The Destroyers & Hearty Har sent off August in style on the 31st with one unforgettable co-headling concert. This crew of rock n roll powerhouses saw long-time buddies John Fogerty and George Thorogood shake Stanford to its core with the emerging psychedelic rock band Hearty Har. The summer season wrapped up with pop music’s newest soulful diva, Remi Wolf. She took her latest album to the stage on September 11. Remi Wolf’s sophomore album, Big Ideas, dropped in July, and she brought all the magic live for this packed out show! Spectators left the amphitheater smiling from ear to ear after grooving to her latest funky pop tunes like “Cinderella.”
Fall was just as epic with the viral sensation Mitski and awesome jam band Goose taking to the stage on September 25 and 28, respectively. Mitski set the stage on fire with her new album, The Land, alongside special guest Wyatt Flores. Goose is the Connecticut-based five piece who are touring vets. For this concert, they treated fans to all their favorite tracks like favorite songs like “So Ready,” “Hungersite,” and “Arcadia,” and even some of their newer works like “Leo,” “Bakhu,” and “Apollo.” October was just as legendary, hosting bedroom pop singer Clairo on October 6 and bluesy rock n’ roll icon Van Morrison on October 22.
With a calendar like that, it’s obvious that 2024 at the Frost Amphitheater will be remembered for many years to come! The awesome concert season saw fans join together and bust out their best moves to all their favorite artists. “This is the best Goose show I have seen. Every song was polished and the jams were tight. The song selection was incredible and what a wonderful tribute to Phil Lesh. The venue was great and the light show was better than ever,” praises an attendee. The Frost Amphitheater, with its serene setting and intimate atmosphere, was the ideal venue for such a magical evening, and the audience left with memories of a concert that will surely stand the test of time,” raved another.
