Rebelution recently made waves at the Reggae Rise Up Music Festival and Coachella. Their infectious performances left fans wanting more of their high-energy set. Since 2004, the band has been a prolific force in the live bands circuit, and their relentless touring has made them one of the most-anticipated performers in the reggae-rock scene. The band comprises all original members, Eric Rachmany, Rory Carey, Wesley Finley, and Marley D. Williams, all of whom met each other while attending the University of California, Santa Barbara. Former original member Matt Velasquez left the band in 2007 to retire from touring.
In 2007, Rebelution released their debut album, Courage to Grow. The band made its debut on Billboard’s Reggae chart when the self-released record peaked at number 4. The album spawned one of the band’s most popular hits, “Feeling Alright.” The song currently has clocked in over 60 million streams across various platforms. The band’s rigorous touring has earned them a substantial following, leading to a phenomenal breakthrough for their second effort. Released in 2009, Bright Side of Life debuted on the Billboard 200, peaked at number 54, and topped the Reggae chart. The album featured the popular track “Lazy Afternoon,” which became regular on Rebelution’s setlist.
By 2012, the band has entered three Billboard charts. Their third album, Peace of Mind, peaked at number 13 on the Billboard 200 and topped the Reggae and Independent Albums charts. The album was released through the band’s own music label, 87 Music. Before the official release, Rebelution gave away the album for free but managed to sell over 16,000 copies in its first week. For a niche market band, this was a remarkable feat.
Two years later, Rebelution has steadily become a festival favorite. They headlined the California Roots Music and Arts Festival and made an appearance in America’s biggest reggae festival, The Reggae Rise Up. During this time, the band was promoting their fourth album, Count Me In, which beat Peace of Minds’ record in terms of first-week sales. The album debuted at number 14 on the Billboard 200 and topped the Reggae chart, making it Rebelutions third consecutive number 1.
These fantastic achievements were followed by three more studio releases, including their latest effort, In the Moment. Released in 2021, the album features singles “Place Unknown,” “2020 Vision,” and “That Zone.”
If you want to witness Rebelution’s electrifying performance at the Frost Amphitheater, you better hurry and score tickets now!
